hi, everyone. my name is tina and for today's hair tutorial, i'm going to show you how to do a romantic french twist updo on your own hair for a formal occasion. to safe some time, i've already curled my hair before starting the hair tutorial. everything has been curled away from my face using a 1 inch curling iron however, the hair around the hair-line will be curled forward - towards your face. and the crown, we put up in pin curls to create more volume in the hair.

start off by clipping away the sides and the crown so that they don't get in your way. and here i'm showing you how much to clip away. so this is how you do a french twist. make a low ponytail, use some hairspray and smooth down the sides so that it'll look neat. hold your hand under the ponytail and grab hold of it. with your left hand, grab the ends and start twisting the ponytail - clockwise.

as you're twisting, you'll notice your ends becoming smaller.. and smaller. and that's what we want. we want it so small that we can just stick in in and secure it down. but not so small that we lose it. and that's all. simple as that, just twist and twist until it disappears and then we secure it. easy peasy... and look how clean this looks..with this technique, you don't even need to tease it. it's so clean. so about this time, you're going to have to use a big bobby pin

and start pinning from the top. just 1 or 2, depending on how thick your hair is. so when the top is stable, you can start pinning it from the bottom. i'm using a hair pin here, a big hair pin. altogether, i'd say, i used about..uhm.. 8 or 10 hair or bobby pins. start off by using some hairspray to control flyaways. and then smooth down the hair, towards the back, before pinning it against the french twist. any loose ends that you see, just drape it

against your french twist, and make a pretty curl, and pin it down. after the sides, we're going to do the crown. of course we're going to have to start teasing the heck out of it. because big hair is always better than small hair. after teasing your hair, take a 2 inch section at the top and smooth it back, before wrapping it around your fingers..and pinning it down. for this type of hairstyle, you're going to be using a lot of hairspray. and any kind of loose ends, again, you're just going twist it, tease it, hairspray some more and then find a spot for it in the back.

i always sit right in front of the light, and make sure to brighten everything to up max so that it exaggerates every single strand on my head, so that you guys can see my hairstyles. so it's making my hair look frizzier than it really is. and also if you guys noticed why i've never worn a black shirt before this is why, you see how "lint -y" looking my shirt is? so here is a glamorous, romantic french twist updo that you can wear to a party, to a wedding, to a prom... to a homecoming.

thank you so much for watching! if you haven't already, please subscribe, thumbs-up, and share this video to see a new hair tutorial every thursdays & saturdays! and if you celebrate christmas, merry christmas, everybody!
